Weekly Hours Exceed 40

Description

Error: The base hours recorded for the week exceed 40 for a regular employee.

Full-time employees on alternate work schedule (AWS) coded 5 (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day) or 8 (maxiflex, variable week) tour can exceed 40 hours per week.

Regular full-time employee's (8-hour days, 5 days per week) tour cannot exceed 40 hours per week.

If a regular full-time employee is being hired or separated during the pay period, the hours per week could be less than 40. Conversely, if the employee is filling in for absence without pay (AWOP) the hours could exceed 40 per week. For other than full-time employees, the hours worked and leave used cannot exceed 40 hours; they can, however, be less than 40. For other than full-time employees, the base hours and leave cannot exceed 40 hours; they can, however, be less than 40.

The following transaction codes (TCs) are included in the 40-hour calculation: 01, 04, 05, 11, 19, 26, 35, 36, 37, 38, 50, 59, 60-69, 71, 72, 73, and 74.

For any hours using the prefix 81, the hours will be processed as the system is currently coded to not pay the employee for those hours. The hours will also not be applicable toward the hourly overtime cutoff. There will be no impact or changes to current configurations for leave accrual, benefits, or retirement calculations.

Note: Exclude Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Shift Work with prefix 81 from an employee's tour of duty hours. This will allow the hours earned with prefix 81 to exceed the allowable hours (excess prefix 81 hours are to be ignored by these edits).
