Personnel Actions Overview
Personnel actions are entered in EPIC Web to establish and update an employee’s database record. After the record is established by processing an accession action or conversion to the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) PPS, it is updated as other personnel actions are processed.
Personnel actions may be official or unofficial. An official action is an Office of Personnel (OPM) required personnel action. Guidelines for processing all personnel actions are provided in OPM’s Guide to Processing Personnel Actions. An unofficial action is a personnel action that updates a non-Central Personnel Data File (CPDF) element in the employee’s PPS database record and is not reported to OPM.
