Trial/Probationary Period for Excepted Service Appointments

Summary

Employees hired under an Excepted Service appointment are now required to serve up to a 2-year trial/probationary period. National Finance Center (NFC) system change requirements are noted below.

Reporting Center (RPCT)

Renamed the Probationary Period Start Date report field label or column name to Trial/Probationary Period for NOACs 170, 171, 190, 570, 571, 590, and 130/LAC J8M.

Web-based Entry, Processing, Inquiry, and Correction System (EPIC Web)

Renamed the Probationary Period Start Date field to Trial/Probationary Period on the Personnel Actions > Misc tab for NOACs 170, 171, 190, 570, 571, 590, and 130/LAC J8M.

Implementation

EmpowHR: 

NFC has modified the Emp Probation Period Date field under PAR Processing > Hire Employee > Employment 2 tab for NOACs 170, 171, 190, 570, 571, 590, and 130/LAC J8M to display as Trial/Probationary Period Start Date. 

Insight and RPCT:

NFC has modified the Trial/Probationary Period Start Date report field label or column name for NOACs 170, 171, 190, 570, 571, 590, and 130/LAC J8M to display as Trial/Probationary Period. 

EPIC Web:

NFC has modified the Probationary Period Start Date field under Personnel Actions > Misc tab for NOACs 170, 171, 190, 570, 571, 590, and 130/LAC J8M to display as Trial/Probationary Period.

Front-End System Interface:

Agencies with their own front-end systems should ensure that their system(s) are updated to correctly reflect the Trial/Probationary Period for NOACs 170, 171, 190, 570, 571, 590, and 130/LAC J8M, to display as Trial/Probationary Period Start Date or Trial/Prob Period Start Date as applicable. Agency modifications must be implemented at the same time as NFC implementation.

Note: Remark Code E19 will no longer be automatically assigned with NOACs 170, 171, 190, 570, 571, 590, and 130.

At the HR and Payroll Clients page, select the Publications tab, select NFC System Documentation from the Publications Library section, and then select the applicable system/application page to access the procedure manual.
