Beginning with wages paid for Pay Period 01, 2014, the National Finance Center (NFC) made the following changes to Michigan cities income tax withholdings:
- The maximum annual tax rate for Detroit, Michigan, will decrease from 2.50 percent to 2.40 percent for residents and from 1.25 percent to 1.20 percent for nonresidents. The annual exemption allowance will remain $600.
To view the updated tax formula, go to the NFC Home Page (
https://www.nfc.usda.gov) and click the Publications link at the top of the page. At the Publications page's left-hand menu, click Tax Formulas and select the appropriate State from the map provided. Changes to the tax formula are identified by "

No action on the part of the employee or the personnel office is necessary.
